This week Children at Play had the pleasure of presenting about sensory integration and home solutions for parents of 3-5 year olds in the Howard County Public School System. It was such a great experience getting to speak in an intimate setting with parents. We reviewed information on the tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular system- and how they impact the nervous system. We focused on activities and techniques that parents could use at home. For me, the best part was a 45 minute discussion of real life behaviors and problems that parents experience, with practical solutions to make children more successful and comfortable in home and school settings. Looking forward to doing more parent education sessions in the future!
