Understanding Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)

  • Children At Play 1610 West St. Suite 207 Annapolis, MD 21401 (map)

SPD is a neurophysiologic condition where a person’s senses poorly detect, modulate or interpret stimulus.  A child with SPD perceives sensory information (smells, sights, sounds, touch) different than most people. It is a complex condition that looks different in every person that has it.  Samantha Offutt Hyali, MS, OTR/L, owner of Children at Play will explain SPD, what it is, how to diagnosis it, and how to treat it in children.

Sensory experience stations will be available before the presentation so you can experience how a child with SPD lives every day. There will be a short Q&A session after her presentation.  Childcare will be provided during the event.

This event is for parents, childcare providers, and teachers who want to better understand and guide neuro a-typical children.

Please register here, including requesting childcare if you plan on bringing your child/children.
