Teachers are at the frontlines of helping neuro a-typical children succeed. There are many tools, tips & techniques used in Occupational Therapy that effectively work in the classroom. The presentation by Samantha Offutt Hyali, MS, OTR/L, owner of Children at Play, will cover a list of topics including recognizing Sensory Processing Disorder in the classroom, then the activities, tools & accommodations used in pediatric occupational therapy that are best applied in a classroom setting.
After the presentation, we will open up to a moderated discussion for sharing classroom success stories and asking for advice from either the occupational therapists or other educators. Many of the tools discussed will be available for demonstration including alternative seating, fidgets & weighted lap pads.
Light refreshments will be available & childcare will be provided during the event, if requested.
