Our Philosophy

Child working on motor planning and coordination while doing an obstacle course.

Children at Play uses sensory integration principles to facilitate improvements in all areas of development.

We believe in the power of play. We use a child-led approach and work with the child's strengths to guide interventions. We set children up with the 'just right' challenge in order to build skills and improve confidence. We know that when children are stressed or overstimulated, they cannot make progress, so we strive to make therapy engaging and fun.

We know that parent education is an integral aspect of any therapy program. We help parents better understand their children's behavior and support them as they implement therapeutic interventions in the home.

Our therapy is Neurodiversity-Affirming; it is provided in a way that accepts and affirms the individual. We focus on strengths. That is how we support and promote acceptance, which leads to joyful interactions, better relationships, and better mental health. We value the neurodiverse community, their perspectives & their insights.

We strive to help each child become the best version of themself and to both educate and support parents in setting their children up for success.

About Children At PLAY

Children at Play was founded in 2014 to provide comprehensive pediatric occupational therapy services to help children become the best versions of themselves. We are a small clinic with four spacious play gyms, a waiting room, a kitchenette with snacks, and support offices. When you contact us to request a consultation, you will talk with Samantha Offutt Hyali, our owner. Ms. Sam, as the kids call her, meets with all our new families to define their child's goals for now and the future.

We provide the highest level of pediatric occupational therapy care, constantly learning about evolving techniques, the newest research, and regularly adding new equipment to our clinic. We combine the best of the new resources with foundational therapy techniques. Children at Play is designed to be a calming, clean, and safe environment for children to grow and to support families through challenges.

SPEAK with Ana Curtin is available in our facility. We offer speech therapy as a stand-alone service and integrated with Occupational Therapy.
